Musicians hit high notes to help kids

There are few causes better than those that help children with medical conditions.

A day-long concert Sunday fits the bill perfectly. Five local groups - Classified, Showtime, Paul Case Band, Mossback Mule Band and Mark Bolos Sr. - will perform between noon and 6 p.m. to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The concert will take place at the Kallet Civic Center, 159 Main St., Oneida. Tickets are $5 for adults; youths ages 12 and younger get in free.

Proceeds will benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children - a network of 22 non-profit medical facilities across North America. The hospitals treat children with myriad problems including orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, spina bifida and other neurological conditions that affect ambulation and movement - and much more. In the past, the local Ziyara Shriners have conducted clinics locally to examine children who might be eligible for treatment.

Children receive treatment in a family-centered environment and there is no charge to patient, family or insurance carrier for any service or medical treatment.

Doors Sunday open at 11:30 a.m.
